Most emeralds carry layers of inherited treatment. Cedar oils applied decades ago and now ageing. Modern resins that looked clear on day one and have since clouded. Cutting residue that was never fully cleaned. Our laboratory removes what does not belong, examines what is left, and then considers — carefully, with the lab report in mind — what to put back.
Clarity Enhancement is a sequence of small, reversible interventions on a stone whose history you did not write. The work begins with diagnostics — a microscopic and spectroscopic read of the existing treatments and the inherent clarity of the rough underneath. The goal is rarely to chase a higher grade for its own sake. It is to ensure the grade printed on the certificate accurately describes the stone in the hand.

Visual microscopy, FTIR spectroscopy where treatment status is ambiguous, and photographs of every stone submitted — delivered as a written or verbal assessment before any work begins.
Treatment removal
Solvents calibrated specifically for emerald & other gemstones fillers, lead time can vary depending on the difficulty of the job. Photographic documentation before, during and after our process.
Clarity enhancement
Natural oils or in house developed resin based permanent treatment— the treatment type is chosen based on our recommendation or the client's choice.
Certification
Insured routing to GRS, Gübelin, SSEF, AGL, GIA, or whichever certifier best fits your market.

Conversation
By video for international clients, in person for those in Hong Kong. We discuss what is the potential of the stone, guiding you to the best solution.

Diagnostic
The stone arrives by insured courier. We deliver a written or verbal diagnostic after visual microscopic observation with a recommended treatment plan and a fixed quotation before any work begins.

Laboratory phase
Two to four weeks at the bench but timeline could change depending on the difficulty. We photograph the stone when it was submitted, during treatment removal and after our clarity enhancement process.

Will treatment removal damage the stone?
Our solvents and techniques are specifically formulated for emeralds and other gemstones, designed to be gentle on the host crystal while delivering exceptional results. We believe in complete transparency: while the risk of minor chipping is extremely low, it does exist. That's why we carefully pre-screen every stone before treatment—ensuring we identify any potential issues and only proceed when we are confident of a flawless outcome.
Do you guarantee a specific grade outcome?
No. We cannot promise a report giver's verdict. Our clarity enhancement service involves filling the stones as much as possible for the best result. If a specific grade is required, our grade achievement service is best suited for that.
Can you work with stones currently outside Hong Kong?
Yes. The stones can be sent by insured shipping in both directions, provide a video-call inspection on arrival, and treat international stones with the same documented protocol as those that arrive in person.
